The Bengaluru-based independent watch brand plans strategic overseas expansion while scaling production fourfold and continuing to build India-made mechanical watches around modern Indian stories.
Bangalore Watch Company (BWC) has raised $1.4 million in a seed round from a group of its customers, including family office principals and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) from India and overseas, as the Indian luxury watch brand prepares to expand its presence in the global independent watch market.

Founded in 2018 by Nirupesh Joshi and Mercy Amalraj, BWC designs and makes mechanical watches in India and exports them to more than 30 countries. The brand builds its collections around modern Indian stories, with themes spanning aviation, space, cricket and the outdoors.
The fresh capital will support BWC’s international expansion, with the company planning to focus on two to three strategic overseas locations in markets that have established communities of watch collectors. It is also considering adding one more location in India as it expands its retail footprint.
BWC currently operates a single flagship boutique in Bengaluru, while its watches are priced between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹3 lakh. The company has an annual production capacity of around 1,500 watches and plans to increase this fourfold over the next three to five years, creating greater capacity to support both domestic and international demand.
Product innovation remains a key part of BWC’s positioning. The company has developed watches using recovered fighter-plane aluminium and materials sourced from aircraft carriers. It has also developed its own Cerasteel material and created a watch that qualified for spaceflight, extending its product development into specialised materials and engineering.
BWC has also been building visibility within the global independent watch ecosystem. The brand participated in Dubai Watch Week 2025 and Geneva Watch Days 2026, while its watches have been listed for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Awards three times. These appearances have given the Bengaluru-based company opportunities to showcase its India-made mechanical watches to international watch enthusiasts and collectors.
With the new seed funding, BWC is positioning its next phase around selective international expansion, higher production capacity and continued product innovation. Its focus on modern Indian narratives, mechanical watchmaking and specialised materials provides the foundation for expanding its presence beyond India while maintaining its identity as an independent Indian luxury watch brand. The company’s customer-led funding also reflects engagement from its existing consumer community, while its export presence gives the brand an established base for further international growth. The planned overseas locations are expected to place BWC closer to established collector networks and specialist watch markets globally today.
