Flipkart’s Binny Bansal Backs AI E-Commerce Startup ShopOS with $20M to Power Global Expansion

Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal is making waves with a hefty $20 million investment in ShopOS, an innovative e-commerce tech startup based in Bengaluru. This funding round, led by 3STATE Ventures, will fuel product development, expand the engineering team, and help the company reach new global markets.

ShopOS was founded by Sai Krishna V K and Ajay P V, the talented duo behind Scapic, which was acquired by Flipkart in 2020. They’ve teamed up with Karan Sonawala, the former head of AI at Flipkart, to create an AI-driven commerce operating system that simplifies the creation and management of online stores for brands. With its AI “workforce,” ShopOS automates everything from product content creation—like images, descriptions, and videos—to real-time personalization of store layouts and campaign automation, revolutionizing the e-commerce landscape.

As the founders put it, “We’re building from India for the globe. Our previous journey taught us that solving hard problems unlocks massive value, and ShopOS is built to remove friction in personalization and content—two of the biggest growth blockers in e-commerce today.”

ShopOS is already gaining traction with early adopters in India, Europe, and the UAE. With this new funding, the team plans to onboard more brands, deepen their global presence, and tap into India’s top AI talent.

This investment is a prime example of the Flipkart alumni network—often referred to as the “Flipkart mafia”—in action. These founders, with their impressive track records, are leveraging Bengaluru’s tech ecosystem, global market access, and the capital from ex-Flipkart ventures to create something truly transformative. For Bansal, this aligns with his ongoing strategy of supporting scalable SaaS and retail-tech startups like OppDoor and Opptra, both launched in 2024.

As the e-commerce industry increasingly embraces automation and personalization, ShopOS’s AI-first operating system is poised to be a game-changer for brands around the world, streamlining operations and unlocking speed and scale in digital commerce.
