MangoPoint Raises $1M to Scale Premium Mango Exports in Global D2C Market

MangoPoint, a top mango exporter, just received $1 million in pre-Series A funding. This is a notable funding round in the Indian D2C scene this year.

Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), a very active angel investment platform in India, led the round. Other participants included The Chennai Angels, Native Angel Network, Keiretsu Forum India, Fondation Botnar, IIM-CAN, Metis Family Office, and JITO Incubation and Innovation Foundation (JIIF).

MangoPoint plans to use the money to improve its infrastructure, enter new markets, strengthen its operations, and offer more products. The goal is to become one of India’s fastest-growing D2C brands for premium fruit exports.

**Building a Global Brand from India**

Manjula Gandhi Rooban and Prasanna Rooban founded MangoPoint, a D2C brand known for combining tradition, quality, and new ideas. The company exports chemical-free, high-quality mangoes to North America, Europe, and other global markets. They’re also expanding their line of mango-based products.

MangoPoint focuses on natural ripening, careful post-harvest practices, and strict quality control. It’s the first packhouse in Tamil Nadu certified by both APEDA and NPPO. It’s also FDA-approved to export to markets like China, North America, and Europe. This makes it a leading premium D2C brand in India.

**Supply Chain Innovation**

According to Mitesh Shah, Co-founder of IPV, India produces half of the world’s mangoes but struggles with issues like poor handling after harvest, inadequate storage, and disorganized supply chains. MangoPoint is fixing these problems with its D2C supply chain improvements. They’re introducing international-level quality control and modern post-harvest facilities, ensuring the mangoes maintain their quality and taste worldwide.

MangoPoint currently handles over 2,000 tons of mangoes each year. With its D2C plans, it aims to increase this tenfold to 20,000 tons in the coming years.

**Founder-Led Growth**

Unlike many commodity exporters, MangoPoint operates as a D2C brand, controlling its supply chain from the farm to the consumer. This founder-led strategy provides operational control, maintains brand integrity, and allows for quick adjustments to market trends.

Manjula Gandhi Rooban, Founder & MD, said they’re excited about the next phase of growth. The funding will help them expand their reach, grow faster, and add new fresh and processed products, creating a strong mango business.

**What This Means for India’s D2C Scene**

As D2C news focuses on VC-backed brands, MangoPoint shows how niche D2C brands can grow globally with the right infrastructure, quality control, and investor support. With this funding, MangoPoint is ready to become a global representative for India’s best mangoes, proving that even a single fruit can be the basis for a successful global brand.
