Zoomies Raises ₹5 Crore Pre-Seed Round Led by D2C Insider Super Angels to Build India’s Next Big D2C Pet Nutrition Brand

Pet food startup Zoomies has secured ₹5 crore in a Pre-Seed round led by D2C Insider Super Angels, marking a strong early signal in India’s rapidly evolving D2C ecosystem India. The round also saw participation from marquee angel investors including Gaurav Munjal, Roman Saini, Pallavi Mohadikar, Puneet Gupta, and others, reinforcing growing investor confidence in VC-backed D2C brands and D2C funding rounds in emerging categories.

Founded in September 2025 by Sumedh Battewar, former Co-founder & Chief Business Officer at EMotorad, along with co-founder Spriha Choubey, Zoomies is building a Direct-to-consumer India brand focused on solving one of the biggest gaps in the D2C pet care brands segment—clean, transparent, and nutritionally complete pet food. As part of the latest D2C startups shaping D2C business India, Zoomies is positioning itself at the intersection of D2C food and beverage brands and functional nutrition.

The brand’s core offering revolves around complete meals made from 100% real, human-grade meat, free from additives, preservatives, and synthetic supplements. What makes Zoomies stand out among premium D2C brands India is its ability to deliver this at mass-market price points while offering up to 18-month shelf life—highlighting strong D2C supply chain innovation and product development capabilities.

The ₹5 crore D2C funding news will be deployed towards strengthening manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure, scaling brand-building initiatives including influencer marketing for D2C, and expanding distribution through quick commerce D2C platforms. As part of its D2C expansion plans, the company is targeting a pan-India rollout through its own website and Amazon, while simultaneously building presence across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai—reflecting a strong omnichannel D2C strategy.

India’s pet food market is growing at nearly double the rate of traditional FMCG, driven by evolving D2C consumer behavior India and increasing pet humanisation. Despite this growth, most available products remain ultra-processed and lack ingredient transparency. Zoomies is addressing this gap with a clean-label, transparent, and accessible product range, aligning with broader D2C market trends 2025.

The brand is launching with a complete portfolio of cat food products along with a limited selection for dogs, with offerings ranging from mass-market SKUs to premium freeze-dried formats. Each product includes a QR code linking to lab reports, reinforcing trust and transparency—key pillars for D2C brand building stories and long-term retention.

Speaking on the vision, Sumedh Battewar highlighted that better pet nutrition has long been positioned as either niche or premium, and Zoomies aims to break that trade-off by making clean nutrition scalable and price-competitive. Spriha Choubey emphasized the strong consumer insight behind the brand, rooted in real experiences of pet parents seeking better alternatives.

Chhavi Bhardwaj Kargaonkar, Partner at D2C Insider Super Angels, noted that Zoomies stands out for its execution-focused team and its potential to redefine pet nutrition in India—further validating angel investment D2C trends and D2C investor insights around emerging consumer categories.

With strong early traction, strategic backing from D2C Insider Super Angels, and a clear focus on innovation, transparency, and accessibility, Zoomies is emerging as one of the fastest-growing D2C brands in India’s pet care segment. As the D2C ecosystem India continues to evolve, Zoomies represents what’s happening in India’s D2C space today—where product innovation, consumer trust, and smart distribution come together to build the next generation of category-defining brands.
