Capital & Conviction: India’s Top 25 Consumer Investors – By D2C Insider

India’s consumer economy has never had more capital, more conviction, or more support behind it — and none of that would have been possible without the investors who chose to believe in Indian consumer brands long before “D2C” became a category of its own. What began a decade ago with a handful of funds willing to take a chance on “Indian-made-for-Indians” ideas has grown into a rich, layered ecosystem: early-stage consumer-only funds, growth-stage private equity, the corporate venture arms of global FMCG giants, and the family offices of India’s own consumer-goods dynasties, all working, in their own way, to help the next Mamaearth, Lenskart, or The Whole Truth find its footing.

At D2C Insider, we have the privilege of speaking with founders across this ecosystem every day, and one thing comes up again and again — genuine gratitude for the investors who didn’t just write checks, but showed up as mentors, sounding boards, and champions during the hardest parts of the journey. In that spirit, we set out to put together a small, heartfelt tribute: a list of the individuals who have gone above and beyond to support India’s D2C and consumer founders, and who continue to help build this ecosystem, one founder at a time.

This is not a ranking by AUM or fund size, and it isn’t meant to be exhaustive — India’s consumer investing community is far too rich and generous for any single list to capture fully. It is simply our way of recognising some of the General Partners, Managing Directors, Principals, and founders of their own funds who have helped shape how Indian consumer brands get built, funded, and scaled. To every investor on this list, and to the many more who couldn’t fit — thank you for believing in Indian founders. We’re proud of this ecosystem, and grateful for the role you continue to play in it.

1. Kanwaljit Singh — Founder & Managing Partner, Fireside Ventures

Kanwaljit Singh is widely regarded as the architect of India’s dedicated consumer-VC category. Fireside’s portfolio includes early bets on boAt, Mamaearth, Yogabar, Epigamia and Licious, and the fund has become the default first call for founders building “hero SKU to full portfolio” consumer businesses.

If there’s one theme that runs through this list, it’s how personally invested these individuals are in India’s consumer story — not just financially, but in the time, mentorship, and belief they extend to founders. Investors like Kanwaljit Singh, Chhavi Bhardwaj Kargaonkar, Rishabh Mariwala, Manu Chandra and Raja Ganapathy have built, sold, or marketed consumer brands themselves, and bring that lived experience to every founder conversation. Others bring institutional scale and rigour from firms like Kedaara, Premji Invest, Accel and A91, helping category leaders grow from India-first to genuinely global.

As India’s D2C market continues its march toward $100 billion, it will be built, as it always has been, on the partnership between courageous founders and the investors willing to back them early and stand by them through the hard days. At D2C Insider, we’re proud of this ecosystem and grateful to every investor who continues to make it stronger, and we hope this list is received in the spirit it was written — as a small, sincere thank-you to a community that gives founders so much more than capital.

We’d love to hear from our readers — if there’s an investor whose support has meant something to your founder journey, do reach out and tell us. We’d be glad to feature their story too.

Note: Titles, fund affiliations and portfolios shift quickly in venture capital. This list reflects information verified as of August 2026 and should be independently confirmed before outreach. If you notice an inaccuracy, please write in to D2C Insider so we can correct it.
