Aloe Ecell Raises ₹3.5 Cr to Scale Eco-Friendly Battery Innovation Across India’s D2C Ecosystem

Aloe Ecell, an Indian eco-battery startup, has raised ₹3.5 crore in fresh funding to accelerate distribution and scale operations, marking a notable development in D2C news India and Indian D2C updates. The funding was secured through Bharat Ke Super Founders, a business-focused television series streamed on Amazon MX Player, which brings together founders and investors to back scalable, impact-led businesses.

The funding comprises ₹2.5 crore in equity for a 4.16% stake in the company and ₹1 crore in debt financing from Recur Club.

The equity round saw participation from prominent angel investors evaluating the company’s commercial viability and environmental impact. Thyrocare founder Dr. A. Velumani committed ₹1.25 crore for a 2.08% stake, while Nazara Technologies CEO Nitish Mittersian invested ₹50 lakh for 0.83%. Additional backing came from All In Capital’s Aditya Singh, who invested ₹25 lakh for 0.42%, and Shanti M, who committed ₹50 lakh for another 0.83% stake.

Founded in 2018, Aloe Ecell operates in the primary battery segment, manufacturing AA and AAA disposable batteries that use an aloe vera extract-based electrolyte instead of conventional chemical compounds. This product innovation positions the startup strongly within sustainable D2C brands and D2C electronics and gadgets, offering an alternative that is designed to be leak-proof, recyclable, and safer for household use. The batteries are targeted at low-power devices such as remote controls, clocks, toys, and cameras—categories that see high-frequency replacement and strong repeat demand in Direct-to-consumer India.

The fresh capital will be deployed primarily to expand distribution through quick-commerce platforms and to scale manufacturing and operations, aligning with broader D2C expansion plans and quick commerce D2C trends. As instant delivery platforms continue to reshape consumer buying behaviour, Aloe Ecell aims to ensure higher availability and faster access to its products across urban and semi-urban markets, strengthening its footprint within the D2C ecosystem India.

Aloe Ecell is addressing what it describes as a massive, under-addressed environmental challenge. In India, an average individual discards 15–20 batteries annually, translating to an estimated 23 billion used batteries every year. According to studies cited by the company, a single discarded battery can contaminate up to 1.67 lakh litres of water, highlighting the long-term ecological cost of conventional disposable batteries. By rethinking battery chemistry and materials, Aloe Ecell is positioning itself as a purpose-led player in sustainable D2C brands and D2C startup news.

The company’s presence on Bharat Ke Super Founders—hosted by actor Suniel Shetty—also reflects growing investor appetite for startups that combine clear unit economics, scalability, and environmental impact. The show evaluates ventures on market size, execution capability, and long-term outcomes, aligning closely with themes seen across VC-backed D2C brands, angel investment D2C, and D2C funding rounds.

As consumer awareness around sustainability increases and regulators globally tighten norms around waste and disposal, Aloe Ecell’s model sits at the intersection of D2C market trends 2025, D2C product launches, and D2C brand building stories. With its latest fundraise, the startup is now focused on converting innovation into scale—using distribution, quick commerce, and brand education to drive adoption.

In the broader context of latest D2C startups and D2C industry news, Aloe Ecell’s ₹3.5 crore funding round underscores how climate-conscious innovation is increasingly attracting capital. As the company expands reach and production, it aims to prove that eco-friendly products can compete on both price and performance, while delivering measurable environmental benefits.
