BigBasket Ventures into 10-Minute Food Delivery in Bengaluru, Collaborating with Starbucks and Qmin

In a strategic move to diversify its services, Tata Digital-owned BigBasket has launched a pilot 10-minute food delivery service in select Bengaluru neighborhoods. This initiative features a curated menu of beverages, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals sourced from Tata Group’s portfolio of brands, including Starbucks and Qmin. The pilot marks BigBasket’s entry into the rapid food delivery segment, aiming to meet the growing consumer demand for swift and quality food delivery.

BigBasket’s new service leverages its existing infrastructure and Tata Group’s culinary assets to offer a range of items such as coffee, tea, juices, meal bowls, and desserts. Starbucks operates in India through a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Consumer Products and Starbucks Corporation, while Qmin, launched in 2020 by Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), delivers cuisine from Taj and other Tata-owned hospitality brands. Qmin also runs a network of cafes across Indian cities, including 11 locations in Bengaluru.

This venture aligns with BigBasket CEO Hari Menon’s December 2024 announcement about expanding into food delivery, increasing product assortment to over 30,000 stock-keeping units in tier-1 cities, and entering the pharma delivery market through Tata 1mg. The move positions BigBasket alongside quick commerce and food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato, which are also investing in rapid delivery services.

BigBasket’s entry into the 10-minute food delivery space signifies its commitment to evolving with market trends and consumer expectations. By integrating offerings from Starbucks and Qmin, BigBasket aims to provide high-quality, swiftly delivered food options to its customers. As the pilot progresses, the company plans to scale the service gradually, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the quick commerce and food delivery sectors in India.
