India’s direct-to-consumer business and electric vehicle market are changing fast. Ola Electric has reached a new achievement on its way to complete EV innovation. The Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) electric motorcycle, which has the company’s own 4680 Bharat Cell battery, has been officially certified by the government. This means customer deliveries can start everywhere in India.

The certification was given under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989. The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, a testing agency approved by the government, did a lot of testing before giving the certification. The Roadster X+ is now in the E2W (electric two-wheeler) group and meets the safety, electrical, performance, and environmental rules from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Ola Electric is the first company in India to get certification for an electric motorcycle that uses a battery cell made completely in-house in the 4680 format. The Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) is a very important product in India’s direct-to-consumer business and EV market. It shows that consumer brands that use technology are becoming more important.
The certification needed a complete validation, including checking construction and safety, range, gradeability, braking, electromagnetic compatibility, and noise. These tests confirm the Roadster X+ meets the safety standards required for electric two-wheelers in India. This gives consumers confidence as more people in India start using EVs in the motorcycle market.
The 9.1 kWh battery pack, which uses Ola Electric’s 4680 Bharat Cell tech, has also been certified by ARAI under AIS-156 Amendment 4. This certification happened after safety and durability tests, such as water immersion, fire safety, vibration resistance, and mechanical shock testing. These approvals show Ola Electric is focused on battery safety, reliability, and long-term performance.
Now that the Roadster X+ is certified, Ola Electric is using its 4680 Bharat Cell tech in its electric scooters and motorcycles. This shows how Indian direct-to-consumer brands are investing in technology to increase profits, control supply chains, and stand out.
The Roadster X+ helps Ola Electric be known as a complete EV company that handles cell manufacturing, battery packs, vehicle engineering, software, and direct sales in India. This way of doing things is seen as very important in the EV market, as competition increases and consumers want better performance, longer range, and reliability.
An Ola Electric representative said the certification is a key moment in the company’s goal to create complete EV technology in India. The Roadster X+ is designed to have long range, good performance, and better safety, which should appeal to Indian riders who are switching from gasoline motorcycles to electric motorcycles.
This certification shows that EV brands are going beyond just assembling vehicles and are now owning their technology. For Ola Electric, the Roadster X+ approval is a step toward making EVs more popular and strengthening its position in India’s growing electric two-wheeler market.
As deliveries start, the Roadster X+ will help Ola Electric reach more customers, build brand trust, and grow in India’s direct-to-consumer market and sustainable transportation.
