Astrotalk Becomes Unicorn at $1 Billion Valuation Through ESOP Buyback

Astrotalk has entered India’s unicorn club at a $1 billion valuation through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) buyback, giving more than 100 employees an opportunity to realise liquidity while continuing to participate in the company’s future growth.

Founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain, the Noida-based online astrology and spiritual technology platform has grown beyond astrology consultations into spiritual commerce and related categories. The company currently has a revenue run rate of more than Rs 2,500 crore and reported Rs 1,176 crore in revenue and Rs 285 crore in profit before tax (PBT) in FY25.

The ESOP buyback is being funded through profits generated by Astrotalk’s business, highlighting the role of profitability in supporting employee liquidity and the company’s latest valuation milestone. Astrotalk is backed by investors including Left Lane Capital and Elev8 Venture Partners.

How has Astrotalk reached a $1 billion valuation?

Astrotalk’s valuation has increased 3.3X from $300 million in June 2024 to $1 billion. The company has raised just $34 million in total funding, making the valuation increase through an ESOP buyback notable within India’s startup ecosystem. Its profitability has been a key factor in this rapid growth.

Alongside its core astrology business, Astrotalk has expanded into spiritual commerce through Astrotalk Store. The e-commerce arm has reached a daily GMV run rate of around Rs 1 crore and processed 1.6 million orders in 2025, according to the company.

Astrotalk has also launched a standalone gemstone platform offering precious and semi-precious stones with lab certification, astrology consultations and a replacement policy. The platform is designed to address sourcing and certification concerns in the fragmented gemstone market.

What is next for Astrotalk?

Co-founder Anmol Jain said Astrotalk has focused on sourcing, merchandising and new product launches over the past year. The dedicated gemstone platform is intended to build greater customer trust in the category.

The company plans to continue investing in technology and talent while expanding its global footprint across spiritual technology and commerce.

With its latest valuation milestone, Astrotalk becomes the eighth startup to enter India’s unicorn club in 2026, following Emergent, Sarvam AI, Square Yards, Skyroot, KreditBee, Neysa and Juspay.

Astrotalk’s journey from a $300 million valuation to a $1 billion unicorn, backed by strong profitability, employee liquidity and expansion into commerce, highlights its evolving position in India’s spiritual tech and commerce ecosystem.
