Ather Energy Reports ₹1.3 Crore Profit in Q2 FY27 as Revenue Jumps 63%

The electric two-wheeler maker reports its first quarterly net profit in the period under review and plans to add 2.25 lakh units of annual manufacturing capacity.

Ather Energy reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1.3 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with a net loss of ₹154.1 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer had reported a net loss of ₹51.1 crore in Q1 FY27, marking a significant improvement in its latest quarterly results.

Operating revenue rose 62.9% year-on-year to ₹1,464.2 crore in the September quarter, up from ₹898.9 crore in Q2 FY26. On a sequential basis, revenue increased 20.3% from ₹1,216.9 crore in the June quarter.

Including other income of ₹62.7 crore, Ather Energy’s total income reached ₹1,527 crore, compared with ₹940.7 crore in the year-ago period. The company’s total expenses increased 39.4% year-on-year to ₹1,526 crore from ₹1,094.7 crore, growing more slowly than operating revenue.

Despite reporting a quarterly net profit, operating revenue remained ₹61.5 crore below total expenditure. The contribution of other income therefore played a role in the company’s reported profitability.

The results follow an improvement in operating performance during Q1 FY27, when Ather recorded positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of ₹9 crore, although it continued to report a net loss.

Ather Energy Plans Manufacturing Capacity Expansion

Alongside its financial results, Ather Energy announced plans to increase its annual manufacturing capacity by a combined 2.25 lakh units. The expansion will involve its existing Hosur facility and the upcoming Factory 3.0 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

The planned capacity addition is intended to support the company’s manufacturing requirements as its electric two-wheeler business grows. Increasing production capacity will be an important part of its strategy to accommodate future demand and strengthen its manufacturing operations.

Ather’s latest results indicate improving revenue growth and a return to quarterly net profitability. However, the gap between operating revenue and total expenditure highlights the importance of strengthening core operating performance.

As the company expands manufacturing, sustaining revenue growth while managing expenses will be central to building more consistent profitability and supporting its next phase of growth in India’s electric mobility market.
