The homegrown electronics brand is strengthening its manufacturing, research and development capabilities as it expands beyond audio products into smartphones.
Homegrown consumer electronics brand Mivi has inaugurated a ₹200 crore integrated research, development and manufacturing facility at Fab City in Hyderabad, marking a significant step in its expansion strategy. The investment aims to strengthen domestic production, deepen in-house technology capabilities and support the company’s growing consumer electronics portfolio.
The facility, funded through Mivi’s parent company, Avishakaran Industries Pvt Ltd, will have the capacity to manufacture five lakh earbuds and 75,000 soundbars per month. It is also expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 2,500 people.

Beyond increasing production capacity, the investment reflects Mivi’s focus on building its own design, research and manufacturing capabilities in India. The company intends to use the facility to support manufacturing across its consumer electronics portfolio while contributing to the government’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Founded in 2016 with a focus on audio products, Mivi has expanded into true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, neckbands, headphones, speakers and soundbars. It has also entered the mobile phone segment with the launch of 5G smartphones, extending its presence beyond its original audio-focused business.
This broader portfolio represents an important shift in the company’s growth strategy. By investing in proprietary technology and manufacturing infrastructure, Mivi is positioning itself to support multiple product categories while building greater control over its product development and production processes.
Mivi co-founder Midhula Devabhaktuni said the company would continue investing in its own technology and manufacturing capabilities, keeping Indian consumers at the centre of its strategy. Co-founder Viswanadh Kandula said the new facility reflected the company’s confidence in India as an electronics manufacturing hub.
The expansion also comes amid growing ambitions for India’s electronics manufacturing sector. Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu highlighted the state’s infrastructure, skilled workforce and research ecosystem as factors attracting electronics investments. Citing NITI Aayog estimates, he said India’s electronics manufacturing sector could reach $500 billion by 2030.
For Mivi, the ₹200 crore investment signals a longer-term push to combine domestic manufacturing with product diversification. Its ability to scale production, develop proprietary technologies and grow across audio and smartphones will be central to its next phase of expansion.
