Ola Electric Q1 FY27 Results: Revenue Falls 45% to ₹455 Crore, Loss Narrows 22% on Cost Optimisation

Ola Electric reported a mixed performance for Q1 FY27, with operating revenue declining sharply year-on-year as electric vehicle registrations softened. However, the company significantly reduced its losses through disciplined cost management, highlighting its continued focus on improving operational efficiency while investing for long-term growth.

According to its consolidated financial results filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), revenue from operations declined 45% year-on-year to ₹455 crore, compared with ₹828 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26.

The company’s automotive business remained its primary revenue driver, contributing ₹455 crore, or 98.91% of segment revenue. Meanwhile, its cell business contributed ₹5 crore, taking combined segment revenue to ₹460 crore, excluding inter-segment eliminations.

During the quarter, Ola Electric recorded 43,908 EV registrations, representing a 25% year-on-year decline, reflecting a challenging operating environment for the company.

Including ₹29 crore in other income, total income stood at ₹484 crore during Q1 FY27, compared with ₹896 crore in the same period last year.

Despite the decline in revenue, Ola Electric significantly reduced its cost base. Total expenses fell 41.8% year-on-year to ₹620 crore, down from ₹1,065 crore in Q1 FY26. Procurement costs (cost of materials) stood at ₹317 crore, while employee benefit expenses declined 46.1% to ₹48 crore, reflecting tighter cost controls and lower operating expenditure.

As a result, the company’s net loss narrowed 21.1% to ₹336 crore, compared with ₹426 crore in Q1 FY26, primarily supported by lower manufacturing-related spending.

Sequentially, the business showed encouraging signs of recovery. Operating revenue increased 71.7% from ₹265 crore in the previous quarter to ₹455 crore, while net loss reduced 32.8% from ₹500 crore to ₹336 crore, indicating improving business momentum compared with the immediately preceding quarter.

Earlier in June 2026, Ola Electric strengthened its balance sheet by raising ₹780 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). The issue was oversubscribed by 56% against its initial fundraising target of ₹500 crore, reflecting continued investor interest despite short-term operational challenges.

At Friday’s market close, Ola Electric’s shares settled at ₹41.07, giving the company a market capitalisation of ₹19,185 crore.

While the first quarter reflected continued pressure on revenue and vehicle registrations, Ola Electric’s improving cost structure, sequential recovery, and strengthened capital position indicate a continued focus on operational efficiency and long-term growth across its electric mobility and battery technology businesses.
